An Administration Police officer has shot dead a colleague in Kigumo, Muranga County.

Police Constable Joseph Kiunga, 45, shot dead the female corporal at Gachocho AP post Thursday night.

Initial reports had indicated that the lady officer had allegedly declined to share a Sh50,000 bribe.

However, Kigumo DC discounted the bribery claims as “rumours” saying the woman was shot after she allegedly accused the constable of defiling her nine-year-old daughter.

While addressing the press in his office Friday, Mr Ndiso said the assailant told police in Kigumo that he had taken the drastic action after accusation was levelled against him.

“The two were on night patrol on Thursday night and the constable shot the lady officer after she accused him of having defiled his daughter. He shot her on the head once,” said Mr Ndiso.administrationpo

After he shot her, the constable presented himself to Kigumo Police Station and surrendered his firearm.

“He told the police that he has shot her over the defilement allegation, there was nothing like the fight over a bribe, those are just rumours,” said the DC.

Mr Ndiso declined to give the name of the 31-year-old slain officer saying the next of kin were yet to be informed.

He said the two were great friends and enjoyed a good working relationship and the incident came as a surprise.

The body was removed to Bishop Okoye Funeral home while the constable was locked at Kigumo Police Station as investigations continue.

Police said he would be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
